Vets on 3870
Here's a salute to all in the 3870 group who served in any branch of the U.S. military. Thanks to all of you for your service and dedication to the principles that have made this the greatest country in the history of mankind!
If you have a photo of yourself in uniform you are more than welcome to send it to me for inclusion on this page. Include a few notes regarding the branch of service, date and location and anything else you think might be of interest.

Gary, KE7AOM was in the Navy back in 1966-67 and was 18-19 years old when these photos were taken. He was in Heavy Attack Squadron 4, Detachment Bravo and worked as Aircraft Hydraulics Mechanic. He made three cruises on the USS Ticonderoga, CVA14. He did quite a bit of flying, dragging his tool box around as well as working on the aircraft carrier.

Another one of our 3870 vets is Greg, W7ACM. Here are a couple of photos of him while serving as a radar operator and aviation electronics technician in the early 1970's.

Greg ran counltess phone patches on 20 meters for the crew. The antenna was a Hustler mobile whip at the end of 300 feet of coax!

One of our guys, Dick W7JHU, spent 34 years in uniform including two tours in Viet Nam.
His first one was as a Signal Corps officer in the 1st Signal Brigade, Co. C of the 44th Signal Battalion. He was detached as a MACV Advisor to the Vietnamese in Xuan Loc from May 1967 to May 1968.
His second tour was as a pilot from December 1969-December 1970 flying Bird Dogs and Mohawks with three different outfits.
From 1975-1996 he served in the Oregon Army National Guard first as the Battaltion Commander for the Aviation division then his final years as Intelligence Chief of Staff for the entire Oregon National Guard.

Jim, W0LU in Korea
Jim, W0LU who spent time in Korea while serving with the Miltary Police in the U.S. Army. Here's a picture of him in the main gate guard shack at a Nike Hercules Air Defense artillery missle site taken in February 1969.

Cormac, W7JHS in Viet Nam
Here is Cormac, W7JHS, in Nha Trang, Viet Nam in 1971. I served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and was based with the 21st Signal Group Headquarters. The lady shown with me washed and ironed my clothes 5 days a week using my BOQ room.
